About the club
Palatine's oldest service club.
The Palatine Lions Club was established in 1925 as a community organization dedicated to helping those less fortunate. The club has taken a particular interest in people who are blind and deaf, and organizes much of its work around that commitment.
The charter was granted on September 29, 1925, to twenty-five prominent men in Palatine representing a cross section of the community — at a time when Lionism was still in its earliest stages.

Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization, with 1.4 million members serving in more than 200 countries and geographic areas.
Knights of the Blind
On June 30, 1925, Helen Keller addressed the Lions convention at Cedar Point, Ohio, and challenged members to become "Knights of the Blind in the crusade against darkness."
Our work
What the club does.
Recycling with Palatine Township
The partnership began in 2011 with the township's first Electronics Recycling event. More than 29 environmental events have followed, keeping thousands of pounds of electronics, paper and textiles out of landfills.
Scholarships
The club has awarded scholarships to qualifying graduating seniors from local high schools since 1996, including students from William Fremd and Rolling Meadows.
Vision and hearing
Club members have staffed the Lions of Illinois Foundation's mobile vision and hearing screening units in the Palatine area, and the club has contributed to the Lions Eye Research Center at the University of Illinois.
